Workplace drug testing in NZ
Workplace drug testing has become more commonplace in New Zealand as employers have seen the effects that substance abuse can have on their workforce. Many days of productivity are lost due to increasing drug and alcohol usage and workplace accidents increase whenever recreational drugs or alcohol are involved.
Responsible employers want to ensure that their staffs are safe whilst in the workplace and a large part of this means making sure that they are not under the influence during working hours.
Since 2003, Advance Diagnostics has been providing alcohol and drug testing to workplaces around New Zealand. We have service providers who can go out and undertake drug tests on employees in any type of workplace, whether it is a small, large or medium-sized business.
Our products enable employees to be screened for the five most common types of drugs. These drugs are Marijuana (THC), Morphine (heroin), Meth Amphetamines, Amphetamines, Cocaine and Benzodiazepine. Our drug testing kits can be either urine testing kits or saliva testing kits, depending on your preference. Both methods are very accurate and simple to use. The results in both cases are available within minutes and the results panels are easy to read and understand.
Advance Diagnostics provides clients with advice about drug and alcohol testing and drug detection periods (how long a drug will stay in a person’s system). We can also advise on adulteration of urine drug tests, which can occur when someone attempts to influence the result of the urine test by diluting, substituting or interfering with the sample.
As an employer, if one of your employees tests positive for drugs or banned substances, you can offer them help in the form providing and employee assistance programme (EAP) or provide them with a list of treatment providers so that they can seek help.
